Glassy Carbon Electrochemical Sensor for Gallic and Vanillic Acid Detection in Aqueous Solutions

In the present study, an inexpensive and practical way to detect phenolic compounds in wastewater was investigated. By using a simple one compartment three-electrode cell performing cyclic voltammetry measurements, it possible quantitatively determine presence of gallic vanillic acid acidic aqueous solutions due their electrooxidation upon potential scanning. case acid, two oxidation peaks were observed whereas voltammograms consisted reduction peaks. Correlation current density value with concentration each compound led linear relationship. Following above methodology for 1:1 mixture these phenols, found that only qualitative analysis rather than quantitative one.
